Olde Living

1) Okie Noodling - “Noodling is a young man’s game”.

2) American Movie - When a buddy of mine went away to college in Seattle he got exposed to all these great independent flicks that I would have other wise never heard of. American Movie is one of the most charming movies that I have ever seen and to this day I can watch it and still crack up laughing. Follow your dreams all the way down.

3) Traffic Skateboards - Philly Legend Ricky Oyola’s company. I admire and respect everything this company stands for. I buy a lot of skate dvds and read all the mags. You can add up tricks and count stairs, but at the end of the day comes down to style and preference. I love, I repeat, love East Coast street skating. Everything about it. Growing up watching all Dan Wolfe’s old vids, it was like hearing Minor Threat for the first. I identified with it emotionally; it also seemed tangible. Board control, style, environment, in the moment. So fresh. I support these guys, in fact after watching it online hundreds of time I finally broke down and bought both dvds. New boards are looking sick too. Oh yeah, and Bob Puleo and Hank Panza are on the team. win.

4) Winona in JSBX’s ‘Talk about the Blues’ - 8 billion points. See any other familiar people in this video? They are also down with Chuck D and backed R.L. Burnside on Ass Pocket of Whiskey and Mr. Wizard.

5) Mark Twain’s Mysterious Stranger - I can’t believe this was a kid’s movie. It is almost like it promotes taking acid.

The body of work is a serious social commentary by Twain addressing his ideas of the Moral Sense and the “damned human race”. A “complete” version was published posthumously in 1916 by Twain’s biographer Albert Bigelow Paine under the name The Mysterious Stranger, A Romance, but this version is under scrutiny concerning the extent of editing performed on Twain’s manuscripts by Paine. The published version is a novella.
