This radio rip (yes, a radio rip) dropped two days ago and still got people going nuts. Jay Electronica “Exhibit C” produced by Just Blaze.

Ala Wai Canal Rats Now Available in Online Shop

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

It’s painfully obvious that we love three things here at Olde Ivory… skateboarding, baseball, and Hawaii. In honor of our new program we are pleased to celebrate all three with the Ala Wai Canal Rats Tee just in time for Halloween. Have you seen the rats in Waikiki? Those things are gnarly. They rival the ones in the Brooklyn for sure. Maybe not as big, but those things have rage! The Canal Rats are the premiere team in our Olde Anchor League featuring our new thinner comfy tees; long lasting with a perfect cut. Expect to see more additions to our league in the months to come. The Canal Rats Tees are now in the online shop and will be available at In4mation Ward this Thursday. Please call ahead to make sure they have your size.

And don’t forget the OLDE CREW Tees in Blue/White and Heather Grey/Crimson Colorways. All online orders will receive a free Olde Ale Beer Coaster and perhaps some other goods. We have a few left over Summer Tees that need new homes. Shhhhhh… don’t tell that boss. Even though he is probably reading this right now.

Olde Living

Monday, October 26th, 2009

1) The Boss’ Cameo in High Fidelity - You wouldn’t believe how excited I was when the Boss showed up in this flick. Sometimes when I have a problem I like to ask the Boss for advice. He never steers me wrong. How’s the tone coming out of that tele and fender twin!?

2) Counting with Bruce Springsteen from the Ben Stiller Show - I know, more Boss. I could easily fill up an Olde Living with all Boss entries. Ben came through in Tropic Thunder and his part on Extras, but he had been hit or miss for a couple years. This is a throwback to when he was young and going for it.

3) Nicholas Cage’s Monologue in Moonstruck - The scene where Cher and Nicholas Cage meet for the first time is cinematic gold. 23 year old Nick Cage going off about how his fiance left him after he was maimed. Dude hates life in the most hilarious way. Before he started doing all these weird action adventure flicks remember he was in films like Raising Arizona. To this day that bakery scene still cracks me up.

4) Sucking at Pool - I know its pretty slick to walk into a bar or pool hall and destroy everybody, but what about sucking so bad your game takes 2 hours and the people waiting give up and leave the joint? I wanna say that I am the worst pool player I know. Ask my friends its ridiculous. I make sucking at pool look like an art form. I get a kick out of people rolling their eyes over and over again. Every once in a while I’ll get the “Are you serious?” That’s the best. Sucking at Pool; that’s Olde Living at its finest baby. Oh, being pretty bad at parallel parking and taking terrible pictures of people and uploading them so they get embarrassed is Olde Living too. Save a few entries and throw those in there.

5) Buying your friends Wu-tang Action Figures for Christmas - Do I need to explain this? They can thank me later.

Skateboarding & Jimmy Carlin & Pete & Pete

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I never really knew to much about Jimmy Carlin except that he was the crazy tech kid on Mystery with 360 Hardflips. Then I saw him Freestyle on Wednesday’s with Reda at Black Box. Then some how I found this video which cracked me up. Then, I did a little further research and found this banging part from an Osiris Tour Vid where he is skating to the theme from Pete and Pete. I love that show so hard you don’t even know.

Classics: Frankie Hill - Propaganda

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

This dude was a little before my time, but when I started up he was already a legend. Skate videos were few and far between back in the day, and if you had one you automatically had half the kids in your town watching it at your parents’ crib on the daily. If you owned Ban This or Propaganda you had no shortage of friends that’s for sure. I wish the quality on this clip was better. This shit happened during the late 80s and it was mind blowing. Those OG Bones Brigade and H-Street Vids were pretty surreal. Even before I started skating I would hear the big kids on my block talking about this Frankie dude. I love the Bill & Ted’s Intro. Frankie’s Propaganda Part is Skate History for sure. It’s still way gnarly.

Let a Stranger Drive You Home

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I love this commercial. Seems silly to have a Behind the Scenes for it and even more ridiculous to interview model actors in depth, but whatever…the chicks are hot. You got what I neeeeeeed…
