I don’t know why, but most designers become elated when they see something well executed, and inversely they will become enraged when something is not. I have some friends that run a boutique ad/design firm called By Human Hand. They are driven (stubborn) to create the most innovative, efficient, and quality work possible. And its hands down (too easy) the sharpest stuff I’ve seen in Hawaii in a long time. When there is something strange in your neighborhood… www.byhumanhand.com

New Workshop Vid - Mind Field

Friday, February 13th, 2009

The new Alien Video dropped and to no one’s surprise its one of the most impressive pieces of skate film in recently history. Greg Hunt has always come correct and continues to do justice to the plethora of talent featured on an ever evolving team. Workshop is stacked. You know how they say the chain can only be as strong as its weakest link. Well, I shit you not when I say this, there is no weak link here. Arto has the second part that is how gnarly the team is. To top it off J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr) adds his shreddery to the score of the film. Stand outs definitely include Dylan Rieder, AVE, and one of my all time favs Heath Kirchart. Heath gets the closing part and I’ll put money on the table that this is his finest achievement. Kudos on the shaved head. (wild homo) He looks all business. Swing by your local skate shop and make the purchase. DVD comes with a nice booklet chock full of photos and commentary. Good work dudes. It was well worth the wait.

Acapulco H.E.A.T.

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Remember this show? I do. Fabio was one of the main characters. People got way into Beverly Hills and Melrose, but they slept on the Hemisphere Emergency Action Team. Shows now a days have these cute short intros so they can hurry up and leave more time to commercially whoring themselves. Not the H.E.A.T. baby, they were too busy literally whoring themselves. The intro alone was like half the show. And man was it sexy. Don’t believe me, well see it for yourself… again… for the first time.

song is super sick.

Fact: I do not own, nor have I ever owned a digital camera, aside from the janky one on my phone. It’s 2009, I should probably invest.

O Captain My Captain
a poem by Walt Whitman

O Captain my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up–for you the flag is flung for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
