Dance Hall Crashers
Saturday, December 27th, 20084 years ago while I was working at NHS in Santa Cruz, sleeping on CJ’s floor, and getting really good at cooking veggie stir fry, I got turned onto Sizzla and the whole underground dance hall scene. CJ had random stuffed he burned from Egg and Joey Tershay. We jammed that shit hard in the civic. I recently came across his interview in last month’s Thrasher. Made me bust out his old cds. I highly suggest checking out his music. Dude rocks.

200808 = Gone
Saturday, December 27th, 2008![]()
If you live on the island of Oahu, HI you experienced the largest black out in the state’s history. I went down to the Loft with CJ and Jonah last night to check out the art, listen to some music, and to give away some shirts when the entire block went pitch black. It was sketchy, but I still felt safer than I did in the nice parts of Brooklyn. Streets messed me up man!
This is where I wished I had a camera, but photo blogging wears me out. *It weeeeaars me out… and if I could beeee whoo you wanted..* We went to this little market on hotel street and they were only letting one customer in at a time. While CJ and Jonah were in the store buying coconut milk and fritos these two local kids, probably about 17-18 bum rushed the door. The older Asian Lady that was working there was shouting at them to get out. And one of the kids kept saying “Nah man, nah man. Pata Pata. She speaking Asian to me I don’t know what that means.” I could see the situation escalating. Then that homeless guy who looks like Samuel Jackson (I’m not being racist, he tries to pawn himself off as Sam Jack in order to get change, he is very charming) got up in the mix. He was all, “Yo let me get that lighter, right there, right there.” The store owner was blocking the door, and if I am not mistaken she referred to him as “Sam L”. Mind you this took place in almost complete darkness. It was a trip. You could also say that it was “trippy”.
For the few of you who went down there to grab shirts I apologize. Please contact me, and I will try and work something out. Thanks for the love and support. Thanks to Noa and the Ground UP! heads for not being lazy and doing cool stuff. Happy New Year! Look for some banging shit from Olde Ivory in 09′. We promised to deliver quality limited goods for the masses. Shine.
Also, I’m gonna announce the winner of the December Giveaway real soon. It’s not to late, go to the contact section and send us your best fake band name. Get weird!

“Imagine coming home from the hospital and having to be carried up the stairs because the elevators are down in your 16-story building — for the third time this week. How about having to use a portable toilet in your living room because the only bathroom in the home is on the second floor and you are in a wheelchair.
Disabled tenants at Kuhio Park Terrace and Kuhio Homes have to worry every day about meeting their most basic needs, but after years of suffering, they have new hope it’s about to change.” Full Story
